Tom Hauf is CBS 5's Chief Meteorologist and he has been working the weather here in Central New York since 1989. Tom recently became the region's first and only Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, a designation granted by the American Meteorological Society after he successfully completed that group's rigorous testing procedures. He is a fifteen year veteran of teaching meteorology at Onondaga Community College. Tom currently teaches his weather program to honors students at Syracuse University. Tom stays busy providing weather services to ski areas, power companies, agricultural concerns, international television groups, and a number of radio stations. He is a Baltimore native and a 1984 graduate of Florida State University’s meteorology program. He served as an Air Force weather officer both at home and abroad prior to joining the Syracuse media ranks.
