Hotel Proposal in Verona Stalled

A proposed hotel in Verona runs in to a problem that could de-rail the whole project. The hotel would be built on 12 acres of land directly across from the Turning Stone Casino. The Sphere Development company wants to build up to 2 hotels and 3 restaurants on the property but the company is not allowed to use the waterline closest to the property. The water line is directly across the street from the land but it is just outside the Oneida City Water District.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says the supplying reservoir is tapped to capacity. For now, Sphere Development is reevaluating the project to determine if other water sources are available and what they'll do next.
