Students Try and Get Law Passed
4th Grade Students from Van Duyn Elementary in Syracuse are one step closer to seeing their law passed in Albany. The students traveled to the capitol to watch Senator John Defrancisco introduce their bill in the Senate.
They want every bus in New York to leave one seat empty on February 4th to remember civil rights leader Rosa Parks on her birthday. The students got Centro Bus in Syracuse to do that this year but they want it done statewide because they say a woman as inspiring as Rosa Parks deserves to be honored. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate Monday. It now goes to the Assembly where its expected to pass as well. After the governor signs it, it will be state law.
