Vanessa Williams was back at Syracuse University Saturday afternoon to receive her degree from the School of Visual and Performing Arts.
Williams was a musical theater major from 1981 to 1983 before leaving to become the first black Miss America in 1983.
She earned the remaining credits for her degree through industry experience and her substantial performances on stage and screen.
Vanessa spoke fondly of the time she spent attending the University.
Vanessa's daughter also attends Syracuse University and just completed her freshman year.
