174th Fighter Wing Flies Home

174th Fighter Wing Flies Home

By Joe Roetz

For the Lunderman Family, waiting for this moment has felt like an eternity, and they have a lot to look forward to. Amy Lunderman says "Him mowing the lawn. He's been away, we've been missing him. It'll be wonderful to have him home."

Lt. Colonel Tim Lunderman, a detachment commander, was deployed to iraq on Memorial Day. As anxious friends and family can't hold back their excitement, the Lunderman family presses to the front of the line to be the first to catch a glimpse. His daughter, Elizabeth Lunderman, says, "I'm really anxious to see him. Last time he came with a mustache on his face, so I don't know what he'll look like now."

When the plane lands, there are anxious moments as a sea of faces light up at the hanger, while members of the 174th stare out the windows ready to be home. Lieutenant Lunderman is the first to step off the plane to his family waiting for him. He says he has a lot of catching up to do, "Maybe some softball, camping out fishing. Get away from work. When we were deployed I worked every day so it'll be nice."
