With all of these issues facing the economy, and affecting your bottom line, some extra money probably seems like a great thing! If you are a homeowner who applied for a STAR exemption on your school tax bill, then October will be a good month for you.

More than three-million of us are getting a STAR rebate check from the state. The State Department of Taxation and Finance says more then $1.1 billion will be returned to homeowners.

The program is income based, so those who need it most receive the largest benefit. Seniors get the greatest benefit with the enhanced STAR rebate. Onondaga County residents can expect their checks the week of October 13.
