Hoops For Hope
He gave his life doing something only a handful of people have ever done before: attempting to climb Mt. Everest. And later this month, Mike O'Brien's family is holding a fundraising basketball tournament to raise money for a cause that's near and dear to Mike, his brother Chris, and the rest of the O'Brien family. It's called the "Hoops for Hope" basketball tournament, and takes place December 22nd at Laker Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus. The event features a day long basketball tournament, then a post tournament gathering at the American Foundry Restaruant in Oswego. The family is raising money for The Hereditary Disease Foundation, a cause near and dear to the O'Briens, considering several family members have died from Huntington's disease, caused in part by a genetic disorder.
