Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies have charged a 52 year old Town of Lincoln man with felony assault after he allegedly beat his 49 year old live in companion with a “large wooden rolling pin”.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence of Robert F. Doran age 52 and Cheryl L. Dunn age 49, at 3814 Clockville Road, Town of Lincoln at about 8:25 AM this morning. The County 911 Center received at least two calls for help at the residence, one from Robert F. Doran who requested an ambulance and the second from a neighbor that reported a woman screaming.

Upon arrival Deputies found Cheryl Dunn in the residence with apparent serious injuries. Deputies allege that Doran struck Dunn several times about the head and upper body with a “wooden rolling pin”. Dunn was taken into custody without incident at the residence.

Cheryl Dunn was treated at the scene by members of the Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department as well as the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service. Dunn was transported to the trauma center at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY where she remains in the emergency room at the time of this release. Dunn is reported to have sustained multiple fractures and lacerations including a fractured skull and arm fractures. Dunn is presently considered to be in serious but stable condition.

Doran has been charged with a Class D Felony, Assault in the Second Degree (Assault with the intent to cause physical injury with a weapon) and a Class A misdemeanor charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth degree.

Robert F. Doran was arraigned before Town of Lincoln Justice and remanded to the Madison County Public Safety Building Jail in lieu of $ 20,000 cash / $ 40,000 bond bail pending his re-appearance in the Town of Lincoln Court on April 3, 2008.
