Testimony Begins: Fajo Edwards Case

Testimony Begins: Fajo Edwards Case

By Amber Wakefield

Testimony in the trail against 27-year-old Audrey Arnold began Tuesday. In May 2006, Arnold was babysitting 15-week-old Fajo Edwards in her home in the Town of Hannibal when he sustained severe brain injury. He's now 2-years-old, seventy five percent brain damaged and legally blind.

After opening statements, jurors heard the 911 phone call made by Arnold after Fajo went unresponsive. In the recording, Arnold kept screaming, "oh my god" and goes on to say "he's got blood coming out of his nose, please come quickly."

Three witnesses were called to the stand. The first witness was Fulton police officer Kenneth Sheldon, who helped Arnold while she gave CPR to the baby. The second witness was a paramedic on scene. The third witness was Wayne Farnsworth, an emergency physician at Oswego Hospital who examined Fajo after being brought in. He says even though there was no skull fractures, Fajo did have retinal hemorrhaging, which is very suggestive of a non accidental injury.

If Arnold is found guilty she face up to a year in prison and a one thousand dollar fine.
