Noose Found in Onondaga County Employee's Locker

A 5 year veteran of the Onondaga County maintenance department found a noose in his locker. The noose was found in the locker in the basement of the Civic Center in downtown Syracuse. The employee told a co-worker he alerted top government leaders and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney calls the noose a hateful symbol that won't be tolerated. Investigators are talking to everyone who has access to the lockerroom which is locked, although the individual lockers are not. If the person who placed the noose is found and convicted, the face a maximum penalty of one year in jail, a fine or both.
