Thruway Toll Hike Hearing

Thruway Toll Hike Hearing

By Keith Kobland

If you travel along the New York State Thruway, and don't want to have to dig deeper into your change to pay for tolls, you may want to have your voice heard at tonights public hearing in Geddes.
The Thruway Authority plans to hold this hearing from 6 until 8 at the Art and Home Center at the State Fairgrounds. The 10-percent toll hike would go into effect in 2010, and would come on the heels of a 10-percent increase that just went into effect within the past two months. Critics contend before hiking tolls, the Thruway Authority should work to curtail spending. The Authority maintains the extra money is needed to make necessary repairs on I90.
