"Don't Duck Racism"
Hundreds of people were at the Inner Harbor in Syracuse Saturday to bring attention to the problem of racism. Syracuse and Onondaga County leaders declared today "Don't Duck Racism" Day on the 6th annual Duck Race to End Racism.
Participants decorated ducks and the event featured three heats. Sixty-one different third grade classrooms from around the city and county dropped their ducks in the water hoping to bring home the award for the best-dressed bird. The duck from Syracuse University's Education and Human Ecology departments won the corporate race, a prize of one-thousand dollars. The event was fun-filled and family family but the goal was to make people more aware of racism. |
