Lyme Disease On The Rise

Onondaga County's Health Commissioner is sounding the warning about a jump in cases of Lyme Disease.
The disease is most commonly carried by deer ticks no bigger than a pencil eraser. So far this year, some 14 cases have been reported locally, many of them in the Fayetteville Manlius area. Dr. Cynthia Morrow says there are a number of things people can do to lower the risk, including tucking pant legs into socks when traveling into the woods, using insect repellent, wearing light colored clothing which will allow you to see the ticks if you have them on clothing, and checking your body for ticks if you've been in wooded
