Vernon Man arrested for Kidnapping
A Vernon man is behind bars tonight for kidnapping a woman in Vernon. Steven M. Enos, 40, of Route 26 in Vernon, allegedly abducted a female and took her to a residence on Route 26 in Vernon where he bound her hands and feet and taped her mouth. Enos then put the woman in the trunk of a car and drove to Attleboro, Massachusetts where he was going to hold her.
After some convincing the female talked Enos into driving her back to New York State. Enos then jumped out of the vehicle near the intersection of Day Road and Cooper Street in the Town of Vernon. The female then drove to the home of a friend where she contacted the police. Around 6:30 AM, Enos came out of the woods and turned himself into Sheriff's deputies. Enos was then brought to the Law Enforcement Building for questioning. Enos was then charged with kidnapping in the second degree. Enos was arraigned and committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail. Enos is to be back in court next week. |
