Chiefs Beat Buffalo In Extra Innings

By Kevin Maher

The Chiefs started a 4-game series with Buffalo with a 3-2 extra innings win over the Bisons. Curtis Thigpen ripped a two-out single to plate Hector Luna from second base with the game winning run. The play was just two batters after Andy Gonzalez had thrown out Buck Coats at the plate for the second out of the inning. Bill Murphy tossed a season-high seven innings with a season-high nine strikeouts, but received a no-decision in the start. Tracy Thorpe (2-0) pitched a scoreless tenth for the win.

The Chiefs and Bisons meet again Tuesday night and Syracuse will try to run its win streak to six this year against Buffalo (and seven dating back to last year). Kane Davis (2-3) is scheduled to be opposed by lefty Jeremy Sowers (1-2).
