Carmelo Anthony Pulled Over Again In Denver

By Kevin Maher

Nuggets all-star forward Carmelo Anthony was ticketed for speeding last weekend, Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson confirmed today. Jackson said Anthony was driving 60 mph in a 45-mph zone Saturday at 4:13 p.m., in the 2400 block of Santa Fe.

Anthony will not have to appear in traffic court, Jackson said, and his ticket is payable through the mail.

In April, the 23-year-old Anthony was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content that night was .148, a source confirmed, nearly twice the legal limit. Anthony's arraignment has been postponed until June 5 at the Denver County courthouse.

On June 5, a date will likely be determined for Anthony to make his plea. On that date, he will appear before a county court judge, and there will either be a negotiated plea or the case will be set for a trial date.

Anthony has had a rocky month following his best regular season, in which he finished fourth in the NBA with 25.7 points per game. The DUI arrest happened in the early-morning hours of April 14 after the second-to-last regular-season game.

Then, in the postseason, Anthony played erratically. After Game 3 of the first round series against the Lakers, he said of the Nuggets: "We quit." Denver proceeded to lose Game 4.
