It was the first practice back at One Bills Drive Thursday and the transition from training camp is never easy.

The Bills signed a free agent offensive lineman Thursday because they’ve got only four healthy tackles on the roster.

As training camp came to a close the Bills elected to make an addition to their offensive line signing rookie free agent offensive lineman Dustin Dickinson Thursday.

The mass exodus west on the New York State Thruway commenced Wednesday afternoon following Buffalo’s final training camp practice session at St. John Fisher. The no pads practice went almost 90 minutes as the players were pretty happy with what they were able to accomplish in camp.

Wednesday’s final training camp practice came and went with Buffalo’s starting quarterback under center. The deep thigh bruise suffered by Trent Edwards in practice Tuesday night had the signal caller stiff and watching practice as he was limping a bit Wednesday.

Well training camp is winding down today and with my first NFL camp in the books I decided to outline some of the things that have impacted me the most in my time at St. John Fisher.

There isn’t a quarterback in the league that wants to be a backup by trade. Every NFL signal caller strives to be a starter. So when one is not it’s a tough reality to handle. It’s even tougher when a quarterback is declared the starter and has his picture on billboards one season and then is given the backup role a year later.

It happened on the most innocent of plays. With their pads off the first team offense faced the starting defense for a segment of 11-on-11 work. On the first play of the segment Trent Edwards turned to hand off to Marshawn Lynch and the two players knocked knees sending Edwards hobbling further into the backfield.

The Bills final training camp practice at St. John Fisher on Wednesday has been changed. The workout will now begin at 9:30 am and run until 11:10 am.
