Chiefs Win Scorefest Against Clippers

Offense was found early and often Thursday night at Alliance Bank Stadium as the Chiefs won a slugfest 17-10. The Chiefs pulled away with an 8-run sixth to lead 16-3 before the Clippers climbed closer with a 7-run seventh. Erik Kratz hit a grand slam, David Smith homered twice and drove in five runs (both tying career highs) and Hector Luna hit a solo homer for the Chiefs offense which homered for four times for the first time this season. David Purcey pitched five and two thirds innings to improve to 5-4. Bobby Brownlie (1-2) allowed ten runs in the loss for the Clippers. First Baseman Larry Broadway pitched two and thirds innings and also took the mound for the second day in a row.
