Cortland/Salisbury Rivalry Adds Third Chapter

By WTVH Sports

Cortland will play Salisbury for the D-III men's lacrosse national title for the third straight season.

Unlike the first two chapters, Cortland/Salisbury III features a matchup of the top two teams in the country for the championship.

The Red Dragons shocked the Sea Gulls in the 2006 final, beating them in overtime, 13-12. The loss ended a 69-game winning streak for Salisbury.

The Sea Gulls got revenge last year, beating Cortland for the championship, 15-9.

Since losing to Cortland in that 2006 final, Salisbury has won 44 straight games. In all, the Sea Gulls have 103 wins in their last 104 games.

Cortland hopes to play spoiler again and end Salisbury's latest winning streak.
