The bird was dining on grubs from a tree stump in my next door neighbor's yard. It flew away the first time I opened out back door but shortly returned. It did not mind me standing about sixty feet away taking pictures. Pileated Woodpeckers are typically shy, usually seen in wooded areas and I was told by friends that it is rarely seen on the ground in such an open area.
